We all shared common beliefs
If you go back far enough in history you start discovering that regardless of where you were or what language you spoke or the name of your religion, we all shared some common beliefs.

One of the remarkable things when you read enough history and take an interest in how we got to where we are now; when you go back far enough you discover we all shared some fundamental beliefs.
It didn't matter where you were in the world, what language you were speaking or the name of the religion you were practicing at the time, there were some remarkable similarities in what people believed and the sort of Gods they worshipped.
It should not be too hard to believe this.
Being humans, we have spent time contemplating our origins . We have all sought out to best explain our existence, our purpose and what happens when our mortal body can no longer sustain itself.
In fact, humanity continues to contemplate our existence, our purpose and what happens to our fleshy vessel when it has been worn out.
While it's easy to say that any similarities across the world are mere "coincidence", this is a very simplistic way of trying to explain away the similarities. One would expect that people living in different places experiencing different environments and different threats and opportunities would result in different origin stories, different Gods and different methods of worship.
Regardless of where you look and the ancient religions of people across the world there are some key similarities, namely:
Giants that cause fear and chaos, often a part of forming local landscapes
Dragons being important and found in important places
Old Gods, sometimes with no particular source of origin but always wanting to end the mortal realm
New Gods - the offspring of the Old Gods and being at odds with the Old Gods
Epic struggle(s) between Old Gods and New Gods
Supernatural beings and entities along with mindless monsters, ghouls and beasts
Good Gods and entities, Evil Gods and entities and various benevolent supernatural beings
Epic journeys of New Gods to look after their creations
The new Gods creating our realm, other dimensions and the universe
Magical plants, animals, elixirs, weapons, tools and places
The importance of water and the teaching of rules for living
Numerous interactions with mortals resulting in various demigods and supernatural beings
These are some of the most common things shared across the world. They may have different names for different elements, and have variations in emphasis on origin stories or the importance of different Gods and supernatural beings and entities, they are remarkably similar.
It is quite amazing really when you think about it. And it is truly an insult to simply dismiss this as just a "coincidence".
It should illustrate that we are fundamentally alike rather than different. That our ancestors wherever they were in the world shared so many stories about our origins, the start to the world as they knew it and the epic stories of various Gods and heroes that formed the basis for our various civilizations.
Even the rules by which societies lived are remarkably similar. Of course, there are some differences and there are different emphasis on particular rules, but when you boil them down, they are very similar.
There is much more than "coincidence" here.
What it illustrates is that our ancestors had a such a power connection to the local environment energy and global energy that it allowed them to access the global consciousness to gain insight and knowledge.
It's important to better know and understand our ancestors and the ancient wisdoms they held to make our world better, especially in a time of unprecedented global connectivity.
Instead of mocking and dismissing such things, we would be wise to learn, expand our knowledge and gain wisdom.
