Reading is important. It's really important for your mind and increases your mind's energy.

I love to read. It's a particular joy whenever I have time or if I'm travelling. I'm definitely a bookworm with a big collection of books that has travelled with me on every move I've made. Admittedly, I have to be careful about ensuring my library doesn't get too big because I have no idea how I'd be able to pick which books would have to go.

My preferred reading material is non-fiction. But I do enjoy reading science fiction, adventure and fantasy fiction.

But why is reading important?

Reading exposes you to new ideas. It exposes you to ways of thinking and to new ways of expressing yourself. It also exposes you to more words and ultimately more information. This information feeds the mind, storing new information and knowledge for the mind.

It is also important to read a wide variety of sources and across different topics. It's probably more important that you read sources that don't always support your way of thinking, or support your view of the world. Reading such sources are great but it does not challenge your mind and it does not increase the information and knowledge stored.

Reading different topics and sources and authors truly builds your mind's data library and gives you alternative thinking and thought to help you explore your own world view; or own opinions and your own ideas. It also enables you to better understand them, while building empathy for the views, opinions and ideas held by others.

What's more, there is always something that can be learned from reading topics that may be counter to your world view. Reading gives you knowledge and insight, adding more to your mind's data library (your knowledge), further contributing to understanding our magical world. It also means you are better able to express your thoughts, opinions and ideas, especially to those who don't share your way of thinking.

Having more knowledge, having more information and more experiences strengthens your wisdom.

And feeding your mind, feeds your mind's energy, your Crown chakra. It nourishes the mind's desire and thirst for information. Your mind is like the muscles of your body. It needs to be fed and nourished and reading is a great sources of energy. It builds up a bank of energy, just like a battery, giving you more and more insight into this world and the other world.

If you're not a reader, you can become one easily. The easiest way to become a reader is to find one or two books on a topic your are most interested in and read them each day for a couple of hours. To give yourself a challenge, you can lend those books from a public library or friend so you have a deadline to finish them.

If you are not a strong reader, then start with one book. And don't get a very thick book.

Once you have finished your first book, you will find your reading will be much stronger. Keep reading just one book at a time until you feel you can read more than one book in the deadline you set for yourself.

Needless to say, be realistic in the deadlines you set.

Where I live you can loan a book from our public library for 21 days. Let that be the deadline for yourself if you are not a strong reader. Otherwise I encourage you to go out and read more.
