There is something crazy, wild and humbling about being a Foreigner trained in ancient Indonesian supernatural practices.

So let me tell you the story about being a Foreigner - I think the only Foreigner ever - trained in what is called the Supernatural Science of the Universe. I am officially a Master of the Supernatural Science of the Universe and undertook the training and education required to achieve such a level.

(One of the fascinating things that you should know, is that the Indonesian government officially recognises and registers people who are practitioners of Supernatural affairs - or Dukun)

From an early age, I remember hearing things that weren’t visible, often whispers on the wind or chattering that didn’t really come from anywhere and would hear this chattering when I was close to falling asleep. Even my dreams were not difficult to decipher; they were quite clear and with messages that were pretty obvious. I was never in need of a dream interpreter.

There was for a very long time nightmares that replaced dreams and when I was old enough the consumption of alcohol (and then marijuana) would put an end to the dreams and would often sleep with no dreams or when I did dream they would be strange mash ups of the nightmares with key messages delivered by people I had met, or had known for a long time, or were entirely unknown to me in my conscious state.

But then one day I met a woman in my neighbourhood whose aura was shining bright like what you think of when someone tells you to imagine an angel. The aura even had a ring to it. At that very moment there was something deep inside me telling me that I needed to look after her and ensure her safety. That night I had a dream that was completely different to anything I ever had before whether a dream or a nightmare.

In the dream I was confronted by a gigantic figure in a fog coming at me at great speed, but somehow seemingly quite slow. However, I could see that the figure was very old and armed. When the figure had cut through the fog, it stopped in front of me as I craned my neck to look up to it. The figure was an old man with long greyish hair, a long greyish beard and wearing something that resembled a worn tunic and worn pants. He had a gigantic sword across his back and a rectangular shield in his hand. He was also covered in scars with large scars across his face.

Looking down at me and in a booming voice, though his lips didn’t seem to move, I heard him tell me “She is the One, Make Her Yours. She is your Future. Without Her You have No Future.” as a huge hand came down around me as if to emphasise the message. The booming voice had an echo to it that didn’t dissipate as you would think an echo would and it felt like a long time before the words had finally stopped echoing. All the while he was staring down at me. He didn’t look angry or happy, or sad or excited. He had a very straight face but there was something remarkably familiar about this figure.

It felt that I knew this person, this colossal figure. It felt like I had known them my whole life and that there was nothing to be afraid of but that I should respect him and take on board whatever was said. He said nothing else but his stare felt as though it was burning a hole in my soul, looking directly inside me.

I had never had a dream like this before and I had never ever had something so confronting come to me during a dream or that something so huge and armed did not scare me.

The following day, I made it my mission to pursue this woman who I had only just met. And I pursued her with everything. I thought that I would do my best to make her mine and if she rebuffed my advances, I had at least done what I could and satisfy the gigantic figure commanding me to ‘make her mine’.

But what has this got to do with being a bule trained in ancient traditional Indonesia supernatural practices?

That's a good question but as it turned out this woman, who is now my wife, is a strong believer of the Supernatural, paranormal and metaphysical.

She believes in spirits and ghosts and their interaction with our world; and can either benefit or interfere with mortals. And her Uncle just happens to be a Dukun.

We travelled to Indonesia for our honeymoon and to receive training and teaching. Everything we did and everywhere we went had people who were fascinated to see a Foreigner performing various rituals and doing prayers and spells. Often there were questions about whether I was a believer and confirming that I was aware of what was happening.

I truly appreciated the massive effort many put in trying to speak English with me. There were many funny moments as they butchered English and I butchered Indonesian but we found a way through and had good belly laughs, often embracing and then taking photos.

There were a lot of photos taken and more often than not mobile devices were on video mode. There was a lot of fuss in some places and people trying to help with what we were doing and explaining to me what was going on. Fortunately I always knew what was going on, but it was always very much appreciated that they were so hospitable and trying to help.

One of the fun things about hanging out with Indonesians is the insane amount of eating that happens. And we would always seem to end up in a small out-of-the-way restaurant where my Master would take us to eat, and invariably “bump into" someone he knew who also happened to be trained in the traditional Indonesian supernatural practices.

And if you guessed it meant more photos and more chats with butchered English and Indonesian ending in laughter, you’d be 100% correct. But there was always a sense they were impressed and puzzled at the same time. Puzzled as to why a Foreigner would be doing the training but also impressed that a Foreigner was doing the training.

Let me tell you it wasn’t easy. There was a lot to learn and a lot of practice and training and demonstrations. If I were doing it in Australia or even using English the training would have been hard enough but coupled with the language barrier it was even more difficult. But I had faith in myself, faith in my wife and faith in my new in-laws. Plus I have a deep feeling inside that the new path I’m walking is the right path.

It was a tremendous honour and privilege to be trained in such old and revered practices, because it was quite clear that if my new father-in-law didn’t think I could handle it, he wouldn’t have trained me - even if my wife had begged and pleaded.

It was also a strange experience because it was also quite clear that this kind of knowledge and training wasn’t really something that was just given out, much less given out to a Foreigner. This was something I was very aware of from the beginning and never needed to be reminded of it, even if every other person reminded me of it.

It truly was an absolute honour and a tremendous privilege to do the training and gain the knowledge I have. And that’s why I want to use what I’ve learned to help people have a better life, to lift people up, and to give guidance to those who want a more fulfilling life - to fill the hole in their lives they keep trying to fill doing myriad of things - the very hole that I felt despite having done already tremendous things to fill that hole.

So that’s how this all came about - how a Foreigner was trained in ancient traditional Indonesian supernatural practices.

If you want to walk a new path, or need help with our mind, body and spirit or need a blessing - even have curses or negative energy removed from your life, let’s chat and find a connection to make your life better, and to give you the kind of future you want and desire.
